Welcome to the German School Ho Chi Minh City - International German School (IGS)
Esteemed parents and dear guests,
How does one decide upon the right school for his or her child? This choice will have a profound and lasting impact on the child's development. Accordingly, it is a decision that should not be taken lightly.
At the Deutsche Schule Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) – International German School (IGS), we will open your children's minds to the wondrous world of books. They will learn why we can see the stars, how the Saigon river changes its flow daily with the tides, and why in other parts of the world one can see ice crystals hanging from windows in the Winter.
Our students will go on an inspiring and wondrous voyage through the world of science, language, and nature. On their journey, they will also open our eyes to the new perspectives they are forming. Their discoveries will surely amaze us.
It will be up to us to show them how colorful and interesting the world is. We accomplish this by simultaneously fostering their imaginative and critical thinking abilities in a rich learning environment. Every child will choose his or her own path.
Our belief in a supportive learning environment is reflected in the architectural style of our campus. It is not merely a multifunctional structure with a concrete playground. Rather, we are spread across thoughtfully decorated villas surrounded by palm trees, colorful flowers, and lush tropical foliage. This is in line with our educational belief in a natural environment with endless opportunities for adventure and discovery. We believe that immersion in such an atmosphere is necessary for honoring coordination skills, the ability to observe and understand, and sets the stage for cognitive development.
"Creativity is the currency of the future"
In addition to musically educating your children, we strive to introduce them to other art-based activities to expand their imaginations and encourage delving into fantastical worlds. Theater, painting, photography, early nature education, and dance are offered not only to broaden their horizons and enhance creativity, but to instill in them a genuine appreciation for beauty and aesthetic. As such, musically and artistically supported education yields emotional and motor-skill growth as well.
Our educational approach is not based on repetitive, old-fashioned methods of rote memorization. Rather, we want our students to be able to actively connect and apply concepts they learn at school. We want to encourage their ability to think, act, and empathize in a stimulating environment. We want your children to discover and enjoy learning.
In order to optimally support the intellectual growth of the children we regularly conduct learning status diagnoses. These assessments then form the basis of teaching plans tailored to the needs of the individual students, both in Kindergarten and preschool.
For the children in preschool and primary school, it is very important to understand existing inclinations and proclivities. It is also necessary to identify relevant opportunities and boundaries. At this stage of development they are experiencing constant life changes. These are crucial in defining the basis of future development of the child. For children of this age, the feelings of security, support, and structure form the platform necessary to process the flood of information they will receive at school.
Based on the German syllabus, IGS offers teaching sequences in English or Vietnamese (for Vietnamese children). This bilingual environment allows the children to quickly grasp their cultural differences and similarities. These impulses are the cause for particularly robust holistic development.
The Deutsche Schule HCMC (IGS) is a place of learning, which offers unfettered intellectual development and promotes tolerance towards other people and cultures. Our goal is to continue to ensure cross-cultural exchanges such as musical concerts, exhibitions, plays, cinema, book readings, and discussions about the world we live in. Students will be afforded every opportunity to experience their own world, the world around them, and how to communicate effectively.
Educational success is the result of many factors. Ultimately, it is based on a productive and positive collaboration between children, parents, and educators. We look forward to successfully carrying out this important and exciting process with you.
