Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are delighted to have the privilege of establishing the first intercultural-exchange school in Vietnam using our own efforts and our foundation's many years of education experience. Our attitude and conduct are directed towards supporting young people. Our task is to "build relations". And, of course, the building process needs building blocks.

There are eight essential building blocks for our school. Here, I would like to lay these out in concrete terms:

1. We are a multilingual school: Because of the central role of the mother tongue, linguistic competence in the language of origin is developed in a targeted manner.

2. We are a German school: German is taught continually in all stages of schooling. The school prepares children for the German Sprachdiplom (language diploma).

3. We are an international school: English will be an additional teaching language at the school and not just taught as a foreign language.

4. We are a school of cultural exchange: Since the International German School in Ho Chi Minh City focuses especially on encounters between German-speaking and Vietnamese children and young persons, Vietnamese will be given particular emphasis.

5. We are school with an atmosphere of learning: We value a strong learning atmosphere. We have therefore created optimum conditions for teaching and learning.

6. We are a school with individual support: Every individual has unique capabilities. We advocate that every individual schoolchild, with their individual potentials, should also achieve the required standard.

7. We are a school with cooperations: We maintain cooperations with outstanding partners, both from the worlds of education and science and from industry and public institutions.

8. We are a school with a future: As our mission is based on "learning to learn" and "learning from others" in an orderly "multidimensional and internationally oriented framework and curriculum", we see a strong future with you all for our school and your children.
